Sunnudjass – Secret Swing Society

Hljómsveitin Secret Swing Society var stofnuð í Amsterdam árið 2010, meðan meðlimir hennar stunduðu þar tónlistarnám, og hefur hún spilað mikið í hinum ýmsu tónleikasölum, úti á götum, mörkuðum og síkjum borgarinnar. Einnig hefur hún ferðast til fleiri borga í Hollandi, Belgíu, Frakklandi, Þýskalandi, Litháen, Íslandi og á austurströnd Bandaríkjanna, ýmist til að spila á jazzhátíðum, tónleikum eða úti á götum.

Hljómsveitin leikur og syngur gamaldags sveiflutónlist, frumsamda og ættaða frá höfundum og flytjendum á borð við Duke Ellington, Gershwin bræðrum, Louis Armstrong, The Mills Brothers, Louis Prima, Django Reinhardt og Fats Waller.

Hljómsveitina skipa þeir Andri Ólafsson – kontrabassi og söngur, Grímur Helgason klarinett og söngur, Guillaume Heurtebize gítar, banjó og söngur, Kristján Tryggvi Martinsson pianó, harmónikka og söngur.

Sunday night jazz at Bryggjan Brugghús, Secret Sound Society will play some of their favorite songs here at Bryggjan Brygghús. Secret Sound Society has its roots from Amsterdam and have been playing jazz on various jazz festivals in Europe and USA in the last years. The band plays old fashion Swing under the influence of the old masters.

The music starts at 20.00 and hungry concertgoers can have a taste of the delicious bar menu, as well as sampling some of the most exciting microbrews in the country. All in all, this event must count as an opportunity to sit down and enjoy some jazz after the weekend.
