Briana Marela is an electronic/ambient pop musician from the United States, living in the forested Pacific Northwest. She grew up in Seattle, but attended school at The Evergreen State College in Olympia where she studied audio production and music technology. She recorded her debut album in Reykjavik, Iceland with producer Alex Somers (Julianna Barwick/Sigur Ros) and it was released on Jagjaguwar Records in 2015, titled All Around Us. It was an ethereal ambient pop album that featured acoustic and sampled instrumentation, as well as strings by Amiina. Her second album for Jagjaguwar titled, Call It Love, was released in 2017 and features co-production by label mates Small Black. This new album is a more pop/beat driven record utilizing synths and Marela’s evolved songwriting and production skills.
